Ihave tried removing and inserting the memory stick many times but it doesn't help. Even in my BIOS it shows 4096 MB ram. BTW I have only two slots and my motherboard supports maximum 16 GB ram (2 8 GB ram sticks) DDR3. Also if I try to boot just with the new ram stick inserted, my system doesn't boot. Thanks for any further help!! Buy2GB, 4GB, 8GB, 16GB, 32GB DDR5, DDR4, DDR3 laptop RAM in Nepal at best price from ITTI. Hynix, Corsair, Crucial, Adata, HyperX, Samsung, Kingston, PNY.
Yes you can combine two 4GB RAM modules with one 8GB module as long as you have 4 available memory slots. However, it's important to ensure that the memory modules are compatible, meaning they should be of the same type (e.g., DDR4) to work together. Keep in mind that the system will run at the speed of the slowest memory module.
Aslowdown caused by lower RAM speed would not be accompanied with high CPU usage. The two aren't linked, no. However, in answer to the question - "Can laptop slow down after ram upgrade?" - if the RAM speed was significantly different (lower) in the new set, then a perceivable difference in system speed may occur.
However that is not to say you can't use different RAM sizes in one computer. Here is an example. If your laptop came with one 4GB RAM stick, you could purchase an 8GB RAM stick to add to it. However, by default, the two RAM sticks you have on your computer will both work at the frequency of the lower one. Ifthe BIOS is showing 8GB, but the OS is showing 4GB, that's likely a 32 bit OS issue. 32 bit operating systems max out at 4GB regardless of how much you place into the motherboard. Though, some 32 bit Linux systems with the correct CPU setup and the correct kernel can expand the 4GB to 64GB with the PAE bit. BXFD8.
